Surplus, Receiving, and Inventory Control are the functional areas that comprise Asset Services.  Marketing, Sales, Property Accounting, Warehousing and Inventory Management are the diverse skills required by the PPS personnel who work in this area.

The Surplus and Receiving functions provide initial and final handling of all items received at the University of North Texas and North Texas System.  The Central Receiving function maintains a same day delivery goal for all material received by 2pm.  The Surplus Section maintains a pick up schedule that meets their goal of pick up within 2 workdays of request by departments.  Additionally, Surplus maintains a sales operation to the public that returns proceeds from sales to the General Fund for re-use by departments on campus.  Their re-cycle efforts have returned to use over 3 tons of material that would have ended up in local dumping sites.  The average annual return to the University General Fund is $80k from the surplus operation.

Inventory Control maintains the Property accounting records for the 25,000 plus items maintained by the University and the University System.  Inventory control handles the Annual Inventory for the University and the System.  Inventory involves distributing, tracking for return, research, and final action on over 235 active inventory accounts and the assets assigned to them.  Additionally they hold and safeguard all accountability documents for the University to include land, vehicle, and building deeds and legal documents.
