How do I recover funds from Surplus items sold? Funds received from the sale of Surplus are generally returned to the University General Fund, minus a 10% transaction fee that covers the administrative costs of the Surplus Sale. The Department can request that the funds be returned to their Department by completing the Funds Return Request FormBack
The State of Texas determines guidelines for Political Subdivisions or Assistance Organizations that may receive Surplus items for their use. Visit the TBPC State Surplus site for more information. Surplus Sale
Can anyone buy merchandise at the UNT Surplus Sale? Yes. Any member of the UNT family, friends, or the general public can buy surplus. The only people that can't buy merchandise here are people that are DIRECTLY employed by UNT Surplus, or anyone that has been determined by the Associate Director of Asset Management to have a conflict of interest with a certain item or items.Back
Is the price listed on the website and on the property the price I pay? Yes... We are required by law to charge PREDETERMINED pricing- this means no haggling. The price on the item is the price you pay, plus applicable State Sales Tax of 8.25% on all sales.Back
Can I come by anytime to take a look at what you have for sale? No, our hours of operation are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 PM, unless noted on the Surplus Sale website. We also have occasional Saturday SalesBack
UNT Surplus accepts personal checks with a valid drivers license, money orders, and cash .Back
Do all the items work? Can I test drive the vehicles or plug in the electronics? We make every effort to talk to the releasing Department to determine the status but we sell all items as is, working or not, with no warranty implied or suggested. Due to liability issues, we cannot allow testing of items. If an item is in questionable condition, it will be priced accordingly.Back
If I buy something and it breaks or doesn't work, can I bring it back for exchange or refund? All sales are final.Back
Can I come in during non sale hours just to look? No, we are not open for special viewing other than posted times. We take great care in providing high quality digital pictures of virtually all the items in our sale, available on our website, that you can look at whenever you like!
